The Jacksonville Mud Run is essentially a 10k (six miles), boot camp style race across mud friendly obstacles. The event is one of many charity events that MS Society holds to raise money to help cure multiple sclerosis — an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system. This is the first year in Jacksonville and while there is room for improvement, it was an overall success: raising over $80,000!

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. The Bowl For Kids Sake North East Florida is an annual fundraising event that raised over $100,000 $120,000. It was held at Bowl America on Beach Blvd with over 500 participants and volunteers — including two Jaguar players: Charles Davis and MK Bruce. I was priviledged to be a part of this event as their official photographer. Probably the most interesting part of the event for me was running into people I haven’t seen in years. Who knew that the very same people I grew up withh or went to highschool with would be a big brother or sister?
If you haven’t donated yet, it’s not too late! I did!

I had the honor and privilege of shooting this event last Thursday at the Haskell building in downtown Jacksonville. This charity event benefits the Family Nurturing Center of Florida — an organization that provides a nurturing environment for families impacted by divorce, custody battles, and domestic violence. The organization meets the needs of these families with a range of programs, all designed to help nurture the family ties that are so important to the health and well-being of every family member.
In addition to some super delish chocolates from various vendors across town, the event included a silent auction of which you can win dinner at the Cheesecake Factory or even a round of golf at the TPC. For the really elaborate offerings a live auction was held. A 7 day getaway to a fully furnished cabin in North Carolina, a 1 ct diamond ring, and a personal chef that will come to your house and cook dinner for a party of 6 — where some of the items in this auction.
For most however, the event meant chocolate — and lots of it. As the photographer not only did I get to photograph these deserts but I also got to sample a few!
