Meet the Bauers

April 10th, 2009 Comments Off

I met up witht Bauers on an overcasted Sunday morning. I was concerned that it might actually rain, but Mother Nature was kind to us that day. While it may not seem like an ideal time for photos, when clouds shield the blazing sun it’s the kind of light that outdoor photographers dream of. On top of that the Bauers were a hilarious bunch to work with. In order to get little Jackson to smile, Grandma and uncle were right behind me singing, dancing — whatever it took!

The hard work paid off and with the help of great lighting we got wonderful photos of a beautiful family. Happy 1st birthday Jackson!

What do you get when you combine cloudless blue skies, 78 degree weather, crisp cool breeze and a warm Florida sun? Crowded beaches with absolutely no parking in sight!

But seriously though… I had a wonderful time hanging out with Anthony, Monika and their recently turned 1 year old daughter Natalia. I can’t believe that it’s been almost a year ago that I took her baptism photos. Where has the time gone? Natalia is developing into a beautiful young lady — so full of smiles, laughter and a curiosity.

Happy Birthday Natalia! You’re now officially the big O-N-E.

Family Time

It’s always nice to just kick back and hang out with the nieces and nephew.  While I’m not one for posed shots — especially of children as it tends to take away from the essence — this one is actually a personal favorite. There’s just something about that deep, curious gaze from the nephew. Or maybe it’s the mischievous look of the middle child’s face. In either case their alluring stares remind me so much of my own childhood — of days when my heart was pure and my thoughts were innocent.

I am reminded that the ability to draw out such emotions and bring into the light memories buried deep within – even from a simple photograph as this — is a testimony to how important my role as a photographer really is.
