Work today was pretty much like any other day. Quiet, uneventful, productive. I did have a meeting with my boss and the SVP of our department to go over my ideas for our corporate intranet redesign. While I prepared myself for any possible question might be thrown at me, the meeting went in a different direction. Instead, the focus was not so much on the content itself or how it would be laid out on the screen. Rather, it was about the cost to put each item on the page.

I should have guessed. I’m now tasked to estimate the cost to do the work for all the different mockups I formulated.

I had dinner with JC tonight. We went to Cheesecake Factory. Instead of ordering a large meal, we opted to order smaller portions of several foods. Which, surprisingly turned out to be a great idea. In terms of quantity it wasn’t all that much different than buying a full entry. However, what made the dinner really satisfying is having the option to pick from a variety of smaller samples — which for the taste buds happy. We didn’t stuff ourselves like we’d normally would and we both felt the portions were just right. In fact, we even ordered dessert. She went for the safe route with chocolate; I opted to try something completely new. In the end, I’m still not a fan of key lime flavors and neither is JC. How’s that for having something in common?

Theo called me earlier today. It’s always a surprise to hear from him. He went on about his work and life in DC. I can tell that he’s really enjoying the challenges and opportunities. Even more interesting is that he’s starting to appreciate all the hard work that my parents have put in. In fact, he even sent money to my dad as a small way of repaying him back.

I happen to stumble upon a video clip on my perusals through the web. It’s a video that just try warms the soul.
